The Owens is the oldest University art gallery in Canada. A wide range of national and international programming is offered, presenting approximately thirty exhibitions a year of contemporary and historical art. The Permanent Collection now numbers over 2,500 works. Given its extensive Permanent Collection, and its conservation and exhibition facilities, the Owens is a major gallery in the Atlantic region and nationally.
